Fortress of the Ogre Chieftan
Game Type: RPG, Adventure for D20 Publisher: Fast Forward Entertainment Writers: Timothy Brown and Lester Smith Medium: Paperback Price: $12.95 Reviewer: Jason Carter Well, all in all, I was looking forward to Fast Forward's Fortress of the Ogre Chieftain, which promised to be an exciting and fairly gory adventure for the D20 system. OK so it wasn't really exciting and wasn't really gory, but it was still fun to play. For those characters that love the old fashion hack and slash (plenty of goblins to kill) and those suckers that like to try and talk to the bad guys (hmm, maybe I could talk all those skeletons into helping us) it offers something for both of you. Nice maps which can be downloaded and printed in color from Fast Forwards website and a host of new and interesting creatures really make this game worth owning (You gotta love the Red Forest Fungus and the Ebony Mushroom Caps). While the adventure is fun, it does have a bit of a problem fitting it into an existing world. I mean you have to transplant a huge castle and swamp (and a lot of background) somewhere kinda out of the way. However if you're already playing in the DragonElves campaign world this adventure opens the door for the second book in the trilogy, the Temple of the Troll God. A bit more suspension and a little mystery would have made this adventure go from good to great. Ratings (out of 5)
